Today a small news article caught my attention. More and more of the Earth's ocean corals are bleaching, expelling their symbiotic algae that gives the coral it's color and food in return for a safe home, and will soon die. Keep in mind that many fish will not survive without the shelter of the live coral. The bleaching is caused by the warming of ocean currents. Without these fish, animals that depend on the fish for food will die, and animals that depend on those animals for food will either die or find an alternative food source.

Surely an event such as this deserves at least as much news attention as the war on terror or bird flu! What will happen when the corals are gone? We all will suffer a great loss of unimaginable proportions. Maybe an event such as this is needed for mankind to work together with the impeeding deaths of millions of people and animals from starvation? Why is the mainstream media ignoring this!

If it were up to me, I'd sign the Kyoto treaty to combat global warming and withdraw from the WTO to enforce environmental protection. The WTO allows pollution in areas, such as the deep ocean, without severe penalties. Sigh...
